About the Rubber Shop

Our business started in July 1984 through our interest in vintage cars.  The first vehicle we restored was a 1928 Chevrolet Roadster.  For the first couple of years we attended Swap Meets and conducted our business from under our old Queenslander at Mitchelton.  The business grew very fast and finally we had to decide to either give it up or go into a shop.  So a small shop was found just up the road.  As we grew we moved into larger premises until we finally bought our own shop at Enoggera where we've been since September 1997.  

We have a keen interest in all types of vehicles.  Our motoring history began with a Morris Minor and an Austin Somerset followed by a Morris Elite and a Fiat 128 Sports Coupe. Our stable has also included a Honda S600, Mini Cooper S, HG Ute & HT Wagon, many Suzuki 4WD's, XB & XF Falcons, Ford Laser TX3, Austin A30, a couple of 1928 Chev Roadsters, 1932 Chev Coupe, 1928 Essex Sedan and a 1932 Studebaker Rockne Tourer.  We still own two 1929 Chrysler 65's (a Roadster and a 5 window coupe which is partly restored), 1950 BSA Motor Bike (ready for restoration), a 1930 Austin 7 Chummy (nearly finished), VK Valiant Charger (half done) and a 1973 Holden Monaro (bought new, still owned, registered and in original condition).

Our business has prospered because of our service to our customers who are all over Australia.  Occasionally a customer will ring up looking for something for his old car and ask if we are still working from under our house (25 years later?).  Although we started out primarily in the vintage vehicle area, we are now predominately providing for historic and classic cars up to the 1980's.  We are happy to try and match your original samples to our products or if necessary, find alternatives to do the job.   We do our best to source quality products and will be honest about the suitability of a product for the job.
